- All of our courses in 2020 are cancelled to prepare for the re-launch of our corona-proof courses in 2021. We want to go beyond the legal requirements as they clearly are not sufficient to end this pandemic.
- Corona-proof means no physical contact between course participants. Many organisations try to loosen this restriction, but that does not guarantee 0 chance of transmission between possibly asymptomatic virus carriers. We wish those organisations good luck, but choose to try and prevent any transmission from happening.
- This means that we prefer to have only contact through Jitse Meet; our private OpenSource server for videoconferencing. A dedicated videoconferencing laptop will be provided to all course participants aside from the laptop on which exercises are performed.
- Some people prefer to get away from home to work undisturbed from children or other distractions, and to focus 100% on the course. For these participants, we offer private classrooms. This means that they are welcome in our facilities, and are the only persons in the room. We have 3 rooms and each room has their own toilet and ventilation. Prior to the course and after each course, these rooms and toilets are completely desinfected using bleach and Ultraviolet-C light, including the laptops. This means that there is a maximum of 3 such participants per course. The teacher will not be physically in the same room. Meals will be provided through delivery service, to be eaten individually in your private room.
- As always we have a hard limit of 8 participants per course, wheter from home or at in a private classroom.
- As teachers and participants will get vaccinated over time, we might offer real life teaching again in small groups. But we presume this might not be the case till late 2021.
Measures for our consultancy activity
All of our consultants work from home. Only when they find it useful and necessary to visit a customer, they are allowed to do this. For their own safety, and for the safety of all others this is minised. If there's a conflict between a consultant and a customer about location requirements, we will always prefer the safer option - even if it means that we can no longer serve the customer. Money is less important than the potential long term health problems or death associated with the COVID spread.Measures for our Support services
For certain boot problems and network related problems it might be necessary for one of our consultants to come to the server location at a customer site. We ask our customers to ensure proper ventilation (through the opening of windows and doors) at least 30 minutes prior to arrival. If possible, we will ask to fysically bring server equipment to one of our (home) offices to be debugged outside after desinfection (with UV-C light). Only if these basic rules are adhered, can we provide this service at the customer location: no or maximum physical distance, only talking over phone connection, proper ventilation, minimal touch contact, minimum time at the location.Being part of the solution End of januari 2020, we started warning our customers and the Linux community for the upcoming dangers from this virus. Urging then to adapt to tele-working and avoid physical contact. We thank our customers and contacts for their understanding and flexibility when they prepared for remote working earlier than many others.
Despite these efforts, our country was hit hard by this airborne virus which does not listen to any 'golden rules'. It infects and spreads amoung all ages, kills and hurts people for a long period of time.
To be part of the solution insteaf of the problem, we undertook more efforts:
- Create the Belgian Covid Alert website to aid with the extermination of this virus. Sooner or later we will eradicate this thread, visualising the geographic locations of infected people can help in these efforts.
- Support and promote the internation effort for a privacy focused bluetooth based covid tracking app. Pushed Apple and Google and lawmakers across Europe and Belgium to unite behind this OpenSource effort. More details can be found here.
All of our courses were cancelled. We hope to restart our course offering in safe - mostly remote - conditions from early 2021.
When we started providing Linux support for Enterprises under a 24 hour, 7 day by 7 support agreement, back in 1998. We were the first to do so in Europe.
In that era already, Linux was a viable professional solution for large environments. Today Linux is everywhere and one of the most critical parts of your infrastructure. Our cost structure is not based on a 'per system' fee, but rather on a work estimate of our support effort. In this way we can adapt to your enterprise situation and organisation changes. Delivering the service level you require.
We cover the 3 main families of Linux flavours, but our offering is created in such way that we will assist you with any OpenSource Software problem you might encounter, down to the source code level, as it's supposed to be.
If you have a specific problem right now, don't hesitate to call us and find out what we can do for you. You can contact us at 02/747.47.01

Debian Linux is the Linux distribution used the most by medium and larger enterprises for internet server applications such as Nginx, the typical OpenSource stack and Java Application Servers. Debian was the first widespread Linux distribution developed completely in an OpenSource fashion. Debian is free and will remain free. We are also proud that one of our contractors Wouter Verhelst has contributed so much to the Debian ecosystem. Wouter also teaches our Debian Packaging Course
We provide standard support, on working days from 6 till 22. Gold support 24 hours a day, 365 days in the year. During this time we can be reached for emergencies by phone, and for less urgent requests by email. If possible, we can also perform remote interventions, reducing the need for physical transportation.

Red Hat Linux is the Linux distribution used the most by medium and larger enterprises for applications such as Oracle and in combination with VMWare ESX and Storage Area Networks. Red Hat was the first widespread Linux distribution in the enterprise environment and we actively pushed its adoption till Red Hat introduced a per-system fee structure. While this has the benefit that it makes Red Hat profitable, and Red Hat contributes most of its development back to the Linux community - we still consider this business model as contrary to the Linux filosophy. As such, we are not a reseller of Red Hat, but provide support for the current and past versions of Red Hat Enterprise Linux. We are also proud that the Belgian Dag Wieers and Dries Verachtert have contributed so many RPMs to the Red Hat ecosystem. While the software on Red Hat isn't the latest, there's an emphasis on long time support and stability.

Ubuntu Linux is the Linux distribution with the largest user base. In good OpenSource fashion the company Canonical makes together with the Linux Community this easy-to-install and easy-to-manage, well-polished Linux distribution.
It is especially known for it's easy upgrade, maintenance and installation. And mixes very good hardware detection, device driver support and user friendlyness. Its mostly used on laptops and workstations and appreciated by system administrators for small, medium and even up to the biggest environments now. Like with every technology, things can go wrong. The Ubuntu community support is very good, but most companies prefer that we take ownership for problems that might occur and delivery a solution promptly.

Embedded Linux
Embedded Linux is the fastest growing Linux market and there are far more Embedded Linux systems in the world than the total number of personal computers. Embedded Linux systems consist out of a boot loader, the linux kernel, C library, busybox and some other applications, possibly with a GUI or Android based.
We are capable to provide your organisation with the assurance that whatever problem occurs, we will be there to support you. With bug solving, architecture advice, Linux friendly hardware component identification, and such.We provide standard support, on working days from 6 till 22. GPL License Compliance
Companies building products and services upon Linux can seek advise about what is allowed and disallowed, and what their obligations are based upon the many differrent OpenSource licenses covering a typical Linux distribution or Embedded Linux system.
We offer consultancy to clarify any questions with respect to this, complete software audits to analyse which licenses are applicable, the necessary additions to existing 'Acceptable End User Licenses', certain points of attention for certain regions and more.
We are not lawyers, but deeply specialised in these licensing issues. As such we can advise and guide your legal team and approach this important issue from your specific business needs.
